Where it began
LA PEAUX® was not born in a boardroom. It was not born from a business plan or a market strategy. It was born in a rundown house in the back streets of Brighton, in a moment of profound stillness, when a woman who had lost everything sat alone and heard four words arrive from somewhere she still cannot fully explain.

That woman was Jacqualine Timms. And those four words became the foundation of everything you see here.
"I was terrified. The kids had gone. The husband too. There was just me with no future at 47 years old. But that sentence stayed with me through everything that followed."
What followed was twenty years. Twenty years of failure and of getting back up. Of starting over more times than felt possible. Of building something from nothing, with nothing, because the alternative was giving up on the belief that beauty — real beauty, the kind that lives in the bones of a woman who has survived — is the whole point.
The phoenix
The LA PEAUX® phoenix was not chosen as a logo. It was earned.
A traumatic marriage. Obstacles that would have broken most people. A period in the gutters — her word — with no income, no direction and no one to pull her back up except a handful of loyal friends who held her hand long enough for her to find her own footing.
The rising — the actual getting back up — that was Jacqualine's to do alone. With courage she did not know she had until she needed it. With faith in something she could not yet see. One small choice at a time. One day at a time. For twenty years.

The journey that built the brand
Jacqualine's path to LA PEAUX® was never straight. She has worked as a secretary at her local council. Travelled and worked in hospitality across Australia and abroad. Managed a vegetarian restaurant in Oxford. Helped in our family engineering business. Spent years as a nail technician and commercial cleaner while raising her two children — and so much more. Experiences too private to mention here. Experiences that would break most women.
Through every chapter she lived the realities that most women know intimately — the long hours, the financial pressure, the impossible balance of building something while holding everything else together. And through it all, a vision began to form.
"Those experiences almost broke me."

Inspired by the great luxury houses — Dior, Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent to name just a few — she set out to create something that had never existed in quite this form. A designer-led brand that weaves personal growth, wellness and beauty into a singular, elevated experience. Built not for the boardroom. Built for the woman at her kitchen table who knows she is capable of more.
The X in LA PEAUX®
When Jacqualine set out to trademark her skincare brand, the name la peau — the French word for skin — was unavailable in the skincare category and all that skincare and packaging would be thrown in the garbage. Her trademark lawyer suggested registering it in the franchise and administration classes instead. And in that moment, something happened that she believes was never an accident.
The X appeared. LA PEAUX®.
