Founders Story

Jacqualine Timms, Founder of LA PEAUX®

When I started out 20 years ago now — time flies — my husband had just left, and I was alone with children still in school, one in primary and one in high school. I was devastated, with nowhere to turn. I'd just got a job, the kids were older, but not enough to sustain a mortgage and two children.

I made a commitment to myself at 47 years old that I would build a brand that would help others, because I never wanted them to feel the way I did.

When I started, I knew nothing. I had to ask my son how to turn the home computer on. That was the first step to my recovery, the first step to inspire others to take control of their own life and the first step to the climb — if I could do it, so can you.

I went on to build the brand through many trials and challenges. Challenges that would break most people. But I'd made a decision to change my life and live it the way I wanted to. I wanted others to prepare for the unseen — you never know what can happen down the track, so it's best to be prepared and independent. But also to help the family unit — not just to make money, but to be home for the kids, their sports days, and other family commitments and with the mindset of stronger together.

The concept I built isn't random — I had my reasons, but it took years to figure the brand out, and of course technology wasn't around back then. Seems I may have been ahead of my time.

If you want to build LA PEAUX®, the personal development programs are intentional too, not for business but for yourself and your family as well. More will be added, but these mini programs are based on my own experience, and they're there to direct you on your steps to success and transformation. Everything I had imagined is complete, albeit with a few small tweaks — and there will probably be more as we grow.

As you can see, my kids are now adults. This image is from a 4-day hike on the Routeburn Track in New Zealand. It was exhausting, I even fell off the side of the mountain. Climbing parts of the mountain and falling reminded me of one step at a time and the failures and the falls. That's what it took. The first step to the climb.
